Kendra Wilkinson Books: 'Sliding Into Home': The Girls Next Door was an addictive reality show that featured three of the most diverse, and beautiful women serving as Hugh Hefner's girlfriends. But come on, admit it...the most intriguing woman of all of Hef's arm candy was Kendra Wilkinson, due to her honesty, her non-stop booty shaking and her infectious laugh.
In her tell-all book Sliding Into Home, Kendra gives an inside look into her troubled life growing up, her near-death drug overdose, the phone call from Hef that changed her life, her real relationships in the mansion and how she dealt with her new-found celebrity.
While the book overall offered an honest and no holds barred approach to writing, I found that the first half of the book delved deeper into her life than the second half, exposing the dirt and the pain that Kendra went through during her teen years. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Kendra's early life as a stripper, the experiences building up towards her move into the mansion and how she met Hank, which seemed oh-so bittersweet. The second half seemed rushed and juvenile at times.
While none of the information revealed in Kendra's story surprised me and it was challenging to stumble through some of the juvenile gibberish, I will say the most shocking (if you can call it that) is the not-so-fabulous relationships she had in the mansion. Kendra certainly gave off the impression that she was miserable and felt like an outcast while she struggled to engage with Bridget and Holly. The book is an easy read and is worth the read if and only if you are a reality show and/or Girls Next Door buff.
